Top CEE Student gets New Bicycle

Universal Cycle Centre [UCC] has continued a long running tradition to award Saint Lucia’s top performer in the annual common entrance examination [CEE] with brand new bicycle.

Pius Raveneau, UCC Managing Director, was thrilled to hand over to Rhea Barrett a BMX bicycle valued at $1200.

“I’m so happy, that’s what I like to do. I’m not rich – I just love to give.”

Rhea Barrett a student of the Camille Henry Primary School scored an unrivaled 98.33 percent in the exam. On July 4th, UCC management surprised a deserving Barrett with her new bicycle at school during a special reception.

“On behalf of my family, I would like to thank Mr. Raveneau for this kind gesture. We are indeed very proud of Rhea. [And] we are proud of you [UCC] for having done this for so many years and, we wish you God’s blessing that you can continue to do this for more kids over the years to come.”

The first Camille Henry recipient of the UCC bicycle Jevon Charles got his bicycle six [6] years ago. Charles was invited to the special school assembly and offered words of encouragement to Rhea Barrett and his alma mater.

“…there will be some rough nights and, I personally can tell you that …there will be rough nights…and days…You have to fight for who you want to become and for nobody else but yourself…I would like to congratulate Rhea and the entire student body…”

UCC has reported donating at least 12 new bicycles the past 12 years to Saint Lucia’s highest CEE scorers. UCC offers a further 10 % – 15 % discount to successful CEE students every year.
